The delivery ceremony of the first domestically-built carrier (built by DSIC) was held in Sanya
CSIC and the PLA (the People’s Liberation Army) held the delivery ceremony of Carrier No. 002 on 17th December. Liu Zheng, the Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of DSIC and the leader of the Navy’s Equipment Department signed the “Delivery Protocol for Carrier 002”. In accordance with the Navy’s Annual Vessel Quality Acceptance Inspection Plan, the Southern Theater of Operations Navy established the “Carrier 002 Equipment Quality Acceptance Inspection Committee”, and the Committee carried out advanced and dynamic inspection and acceptance on quality of Carrier 002. The Navy’s Equipment Department and Takeover Troops carried out whole-process tracking and inspection, whole-process quality monitoring and acceptance inspection since August 2019, and has drawn the conclusion that: the hull, marine equipment, power system, electricity system, vessel support system, aviation support system, combat system, formation and combat commanding system and other major technical and performance indexes of Carrier 002 have satisfied the requirements as set out in the Technical Specification and Test Program; the quality met the design index; the takeover training has been completed; the crew could operate the equipment independently and it is ready for handover. DSIC started to build this carrier in 2013. In 2016, the takeover troops started to enter the carrier, and this carrier was successfully launched in DSIC on 26th April 2017. The carrier set out to sea trial for the first time on 13th May 2018. Thousands of parts on the first domestically-built carrier were all domestic products and they were all designed, built and supplied by Chinese producers.
