On June 1, Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (DSIC) of China State Shipbuilding Co., Ltd(CSSC) started steel cutting of the first 175,000m3 large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier for China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd. (CMES).
The ship is the first large LNG carrier built by DSIC and the first of eight 175,000m3 LNG carriers signed with CMES. The steel cutting marks an important step in the transformation and upgrading of DSIC, which has officially entered the field of large LNG carrier construction.
Lin Jiming, deputy general manager of DSIC, Sheng Shanxing and Chen Susu, deputy general manager of CMES LNG Shipping Company, Xia Shang, deputy general manager of Sinochem Oil, Liu Jingbo, Party secretary and executive director of Guangzhou Gas Group, and representatives of relevant units attended the ceremony.
The ship has total length of 295 meters, molded width of 46.4 meters, molded depth of 26.2 meters, design draft of 11.5 meters, design service speed of 19.5 knots, total cargo capacity of 175,000 cubic meters. It can dock at most of large LNG shore stations worldwide, with excellent port suitability and ship-shore compatibility. The ship is equipped with the latest LNG dual-fuel low-speed main engine with integrated ICER system, and both fuel and gas modes meet the highest IMO emission standards. In addition, new double stern fin profile and air lubrication system are adopted to further enhance hydrodynamic performance and propulsion safety redundancy. GTT Mark III Flex cargo enclosure system is adopted for cargo tank with daily evaporation rate of as low as 0.085%. Meanwhile, the ship is equipped with reliquefaction device to deal with LNG evaporation gas flexibly and efficiently, which is the crystallization of DSIC research, development and reserve for many years.
Up to now, CMES has signed 8 LNG carrier orders with DSIC, fully demonstrating trust in DSIC. DSIC will take the steel cutting of the first ship as the start point for a new journey, continuously improve construction capacity and quality, promote product iteration and upgrade, enhance market competitiveness, so as to establish market position in the field of large LNG carriers and provide a solid guarantee for DSIC to achieve strategic transformation and high-quality development of LNG carriers. |
