The First LNG Dual Fuel VLCC "YUAN RUI YANG" Was Successfully Delivered
On February 28, "YUAN RUI YANG",built for COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation Corporation (COSCO Shipping Energy), was delivered in DSIC, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation. Chen Shuai, deputy district head of Hongkou District in Shanghai, Huang Xiaowen, deputy general manager of COSCO Shipping, Sun Wei, deputy general manager of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, Ren Yongqiang, chairman and Party secretary of COSCO Shipping Energy, Zhu Maijin, general manager of COSCO Shipping Energy, Yang Zhizhong, chairman and Party secretary of DSIC, Lin Jiming, deputy general manager of DSIC, Yang Guang, Party committee secretary of China Classification Society Dalian Branch and other guests attended the ceremony. Ms. Guo Fang, secretary of Hongkou district committee in Shanghai, named the VLCC as honored guest.
This ship is the first worldwide LNG dual fuel very large crude oil carrier tailored for COSCO Shipping by DSIC based on scientific research projects supported by national provinces and cities.The successful delivery marks that COSCO Shipping takes leading position in the world in application of green, environmental protection and energy saving technologies for large tankers. It also marks the breakthrough in the field of large clean energy power ship technology by CSSC. In the context of global energy transition, the application of LNG as main fuel on VLCC by DSIC and COSCO Shipping Energy will play a positive demonstration leading role in energy conservation and emission reduction of large ships and the realization of the goal of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" in shipping industry, which has milestone significance.
"YUAN RUI YANG" is designed to be 333 meters long, 60 meters wide and 30.5 meters deep. It uses LNG as the main fuel and is equipped with LNG dual fuel main engine, generator and boiler. It is classified as CCS single class and awarded with Natural Gas Fuel additional mark. The ship meets the requirements of EEDI Stage 3, sulfur oxide emission reduction of 99%, particulate matter emission reduction of 98%, and nitrogen oxide emission of the most stringent Tier Ⅲ requirements of IMO. The structure design meets HCSR and the INTELLIGENT energy efficiency symbol I-SHIP (E) requirements of CCS. It can provide the list of hazardous substances in accordance with EU regulations.
Leading superiority: energy saving, consumption reduction and efficiency improvement
The ship is adopted the latest hull line developed by DSIC and is equipped with 10.6m diameter large-size and efficient propeller suitable for the ship. The overall performance of the ship is excellent. With design draft and service speed of 15 knots, the endurance of the ship can reach 12,000 nautical miles in gas mode and 24,000 nautical miles in combined fuel and gas mode. EEDI of the ship is 39% below the baseline value. For the first time, domestic corrosion-resistant steel plates meeting IMO requirements are used on the ship to replace PSPC coating protection. The application scope covers the bottom of all cargo tank area and the top of No. 1 cargo oil tank, so as to realize the real ship engineering application of domestic corrosion-resistant steel, fill the domestic gap, reduce paint consumption by about 20000 liters, which greatly reduce coating area of real ship construction, reduce environmental pollution, have good ecological benefits and effectively improve production efficiency on site. During the construction process, we have achieved independent research on many engineering application difficulties such as cutting, welding, assembly and inspection of corrosion-resistant steel, formed a complete technical system for batch production and engineering application of marine corrosion-resistant steel in China, improved the international competitiveness of high-end marine steel, and provided guarantee for the implementation of the strategy of "national oil transportation and national shipbuilding".
Highlights :LNG gas storage system
The LNG storage system adopts the design of C-type storage tank, and a LNG filling station with C-type 3500m3 LNG low-temperature storage tank as the main body is set on the port and starboard respectively, with a filling rate of 1500m3/h, which is convenient for the owner's filling operation. Relying on this project, DSIC has broken through the independent design, high-precision construction, tank assembly and test technology of LNG low-temperature C-type storage tank, and has all independent intellectual property rights. Road ahead is not far away. Persist and keep going, then we will get through. In the next step, DSIC will anchor the strategic goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutralization", closely track the development trend of new technologies such as green, intelligent and safe, further accelerate the research and development of green ecological and environmental protection ship types, and strive to launch products with good safety performance in the fields of LNG fuel powered VLCC, LNG fuel powered super large container ship, large LNG ship and FPSO A ship type with high technical standards for energy conservation and environmental protection and more competitive in the market, and establish a new industry benchmark for a new generation of green and environmental protection ship types. |
