Recently, drawings of the hatch covers for the 25,800-ton bulk carrier project have been successfully completed and submitted to the CCS Classification Society for review, which are designed and developed independently by DSIC Shipbuilding Company. This is a new breakthrough in the independent design field of hatch cover of the company after the design and construction of the hatch covers for the 3900TEU container ship and 6600TEU container ship.
DSIC Shipbuilding Company has signed the contract for the design and construction of the hatch covers of four 25,800-ton bulk carriers, and the contract for another 6 ships is to come into force later. Each ship contains four hatches, hence, a total of 16 hatch covers. Currently, there are three types of hatch cover in the ship market generally, including hanging, folding and side moving. The hatch covers of 3900TEU and 6600TEU belong to hanging type, while the hatch covers of 25,800-ton bulk carrier belong to folding type. Facing with the unknown fields, the company's designers are brave to undertake the task, are bold in innovation, are careful and patient in verification to overcome the design difficulties of folding cabin cover.
By virtue of experience in hatch cover construction for more than 20 years, DSIC Shipbuilding Company has formed a complete set of enterprise standards for hatch cover construction, from plate order to steel pre-treatment, cutting, construction group, large group process and so on. Standardized management processes have been formed for all these procedures, which have greatly improved work efficiency and can provide clients with efficient services and quality products.
