On April 6, China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited(CSSC) and CMA-CGM officially signed the cooperation agreement in Beijing, which includes the construction of 2 types of 16 large container ships with amount of more than 21 billion RMB, setting a new record for the largest amount of container ships signed at one time in Chinese shipbuilding industry, writing a new chapter in the bilateral strategic partnership and becoming a new good story of friendly cooperation between China and France in the field of economy and trade.
The 12 15,000TEU methanol powered large container ships included in this cooperation agreement are the first batch of orders for methanol fuelled container ships undertaken by CSSC, with fully independent intellectual property rights, marking that CSSC ranks among the global club of new clean energy powered ships, demonstrating the strong comprehensive strength in R&D, design and construction, and injecting new momentum for building a world-class shipbuilding group.
Ship profile
It is known that six of the 15,000TEU methanol powered large container ships will be built at DSIC Tianjin base. By using green methanol as the main fuel, net zero emission for the whole voyage can be achieved. The ship is 366 meters long, 51 meters wide and 30.2 meters deep, and can carry 156,000 tons of cargo. The approximate technique and efficient global optimization algorithm are used to optimize the linear shape, which is combined with numerical pool (CFD) and physical pool (ship model test). At the same time, it also fully considers the actual needs of the shipowner's operating conditions, and continuously improves and optimizes the comprehensive hydrodynamic performance, and finally forms a new ship with excellent performance. After rigorous, rigorous and rigorous scientific testing, EEDI of the ship can be reduced by more than 60%, meeting the most stringent global emission requirements.

Lay the foundation for high-quality development
Affiliated to DSIC, DSIC Tianjin is positioned as a large civil ship construction base, mainly building large crude oil vessels, large container ships and large bulk carriers. According to the strategic layout of DSIC, DSIC Tianjin aims to build a first-class domestic and world-renowned large-scale civil ship construction and assembly base, and strives to build a first-class ship enterprise with proper cost control, advanced management mode, outstanding advantages and characteristics, and strong comprehensive competitiveness. The signing of six 15,000TEU methanol powered large container ships is a major breakthrough in market development and lays a solid foundation for the high-quality sustainable development of DSIC Tianjin. |
