On June 18, No.98 300,000dwt VLCC built for China Merchants Energy Shipping Corporation(CMES) by DSIC of China State Shipbuilding Corporation(CSSC) was named and delivered. The representatives of both sides signed the handover certificate.
Li Jianhong, external director convener of CSSC, Feng Boming, member of the Party committee and vice general manager of CMES, Xie Chunlin, secretary of the Party committee and chairman of CMES, Yang Zhizhong, Zheng Wei, Lin Jiming, the leaders of DSIC and the directors of relevant departments attended the delivery and naming ceremony. Sun Wei, member of the Party committee and deputy general manager of CSSC, attended the ceremony in Shanghai via video. Ms. Huang Weiqing cut the cable for the new vessel and Feng Boming named the vessel "NEW VALOR".
"NEW VALOR" is the fourth vessel in a series of six new generation energy-saving and environment-friendly VLCC elaborately built for CMES, and is also the 23rd 300,000dwt super large crude oil carrier built by DSIC for CMES. This series of vessels not only have excellent overall index, but also have excellent safety and environmental performance, and meet the requirements of HCSR, the latest NOx and SOx emission standards, EEDI and EEXI indicators, hazardous substances list of EU Shipbreaking Convention, the latest major tanker companies, etc..
With total length of 333 meters, width of 60 meters and depth of 30 meters, the ship belongs to unlimited navigation area type with a range of over 26,000 nautical miles and can sail globally. It can normally carry 2 million barrels of crude oil through the Strait of Malacca at design draft of 20.5 meters.
DSIC, together with CMES, has jointly undertaken the high-tech ship scientific research project of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, applied a number of green cutting-edge technologies on actual ships, and continued to lead the research and development design of VLCC green ship types. Among them, the latest main engine, shaft belt machine and air layer drag reduction system will be applied on subsequent No.99 ship, and the design energy efficiency index will reach EEDI stage 3 when the ship is delivered, which will meet the requirements for the contracted ships in 2025 in advance. No. 100 ship will be equipped with two pairs of sails, which will be further optimized and improved in terms of control ability, sail blade material and power system compared with the previous generation, with more significant energy-saving effect.
