2+2! Pick the “Pearls on the Crown”

DSIC (a subsidiary under CSSC) has got the new-build order of “2+2 vessels (175,000 m3 LNG) carriers from China Merchant Energy Shipping Co., Ltd under China Merchants Group on 31st March 2022. Representatives of these parties have signed the Shipbuilding Contract through “Cloud Signing” respectively in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Dalian and Beijing.

Miao Jianmin, the Party Secretary and Chairman of China Merchants Group, Hu Jianhua, the Vice Party Secretary and General Manager, Lei Fanpei, the Party Secretary and Chairman of CSSC, Yang Jincheng, the Vice Party Secretary and General Manager of CSSC, Xie Chunlin, the Party Secretary and Chairman of CMES, Mr. Yang Zhizhong, the Party Secretary and Chairman of DSIC, Hu Kai, the Vice Party Secretary and the General Manager of China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd attended the signing ceremony.

It will further boost the overall strength of Chinese shipbuilding industry, provide equipment guarantee to the safety of energy transportation in China and make contribution in achieving the “Double Carbon” target.

This type of vessel was independently developed by DSIC and has a total length of 295m, width of 46.4m, depth of 26.2m, design draft of 11.5m, design service speed of 19.5knots, and total capacity of cargo hold of 175K m3. The cargo hold capacity match well with the loading capacity of 160K m3 in the main-stream terminals. Meanwhile, compared with the LNG vessel with the capacity of 170K m3 in the current market, it has good interchangeability with other vessels and improves the flexibility of vessel operation. This vessel has reached general equilibrium in terms of its economical efficiency, flexibility and compatibility, and could berth at most large LNG terminals in the world and has very good port adaptability and vessel-port compatibility.

Install the latest LNG duel-fuel low-speed main engine, could meet the strictest emission standard of IMO in the fuel and gas mode, and further reduce the oil and gas consumption of the main engine.

Adopt the new twin-skeg linetype, further improve the hydrodynamic performance, and boost the safety redundancy of the system.

Adopt the GTT Mark III Flex-type cargo containment system, reduce the evaporation rate to 0.085%, install the standard re-liquefaction plant and could handle flexibly the boil-off gas of LNG

Has completed the design work for vessel R&D, has obtained the recognition in principle by Lloyd’s and CCS.
