On April 13, the world's first 7,500 cubic meter liquid carbon dioxide carrier No. 1 and No. 2, built by China Shipbuilding Dalian for Northern Lights, successfully achieved bottom laying node on the same day.
Ship profile
The ship is about 130 meters in length, 21.2 meters in width and 8 meters in draft. It is specialized in marine carbon transportation and storage. It flies the Norwegian flag and is classified as DNV Classification Society. This ship type is independently designed and completed by DSIC with complete independent intellectual property rights.
Pioneering innovation breakthrough technology gap
As the world's first professional liquid carbon dioxide carrier for marine carbon transport and storage, the research and development process of the ship has always been adhering to the design concept of green, environmental protection, safety, efficiency and comfort, and a variety of innovative technological means has been adopted. DSIC has set up an excellent design team to carry out design research. With the cooperation of the shipowner and classification society, a series of technical problems such as ship type optimization (including overall performance, speediness, maneuverability, etc.), CTOD test of liquid cargo tank materials, liquid cargo tank and saddle strengthening scheme, liquid cargo system design scheme, new energy-saving devices (including energy-saving sail, bubble drag reduction, shaft generator), large total section hoisting, vibration noise and so on have been solved successively. DSIC has accumulated rich experience in special ship project management, safety, health and environmental protection management, special ship construction procedures and other aspects, which has laid a solid foundation for the successful realization of subsequent production nodes. |
