On December 17, DSIC jointly signed a letter of intent for cooperation on 1+1 large LNG carriers with China Shipbuilding Trading Corporation(CSTC) and China Merchants Energy Shipping Corporation (CMES) at the centralized signing ceremony of maritime projects for CSSC, marking the formal entry of DSIC into the large LNG carrier market.
The main content of this letter of intent is to discuss and promote the construction and operation cooperation of 175,000m3 Mark III Flex LNG carrier. This type of ship is independently developed by DSIC. The ship has total length of 295m, mould width of 46.4m, mould depth of 26.2m, design draft of 11.5m, design service speed of 19.5 knots and total cargo tank capacity of 175000m3. It can dock at most large LNG shore stations in the world with excellent port suitability and ship-shore compatibility. The latest LNG dual fuel low-speed main engine on the ship can meet the most stringent emission standards of IMO in both fuel and gas modes, further reducing fuel and gas consumption of the main engine. New twin-stern fin type is applied to further improve the hydrodynamic performance and enhance the safety redundancy of the propulsion system. GTT Mark III Flex cargo containment system is adopted to reduce evaporation rate to 0.085%, and reliquefaction installation is configured as standard, which can flexibly process LNG evaporation gas. DSIC has completed basic design task on ship type development and obtained the approval in principle from Lloyd's Register of Shipping and China Classification Society.
Focusing on the common long-term interests of both sides, the project is committed to consolidating and deepening long-term, stable and mutually beneficial cooperation, giving full play to their respective advantages and promoting common development. The joint entry into the new field of green energy transportation will also help enhance the overall international competitiveness of shipbuilding industry in China as a whole, provide equipment guarantee for China's energy transportation security, and contribute to the realization of the "Double Carbon Emission Reduction " target.
LNG carrier is internationally recognized as "three high" product with high technology, high difficulty and high added value. It is a special ship for transporting liquefied gas at the low temperature of minus 162℃. It is a kind of "maritime super refrigerated vehicle". At present, only the United States, China, Japan, South Korea and a few countries in Europe can build it. In shipbuilding industry in the world, if aircraft carriers are compared to the pearl on crown of military shipbuilding, then the pearl on crown of civilian shipbuilding must belong to LNG carriers.
Since the year of 2000, DSIC has successively completed the research and development on ship type, construction and test technology research, engineering management technology research, simulation cabin construction, training of special personnel and other aspects of LNG carrier. At present, DSIC has mastered the process and management technology of real ship construction of LNG carrier.
Over the years, DSIC, together with GTT and several classification societies, has developed 140,000 cubic meters, 150,000 cubic meters, 175,000 cubic meters and other multi-type products based on No.96 and MARK III technologies through continuous R & D and optimization, which has been recognized by GTT and classification Societies.
Meanwhile, DSIC has successively completed simulation cabins construction of the largest No.96 LNG carrier in the world and the fully enclosed Mark III LNG carrier, which has been recognized by GTT Patent Company of France and the mainstream classification societies such as China Classification Society, Lloyd's Register of Shipping, Det Norske Veritas, American Bureau of Shipping and Bureau Veritas. It has laid a solid foundation for DSIC to enter the large LNG carrier market formally. |
